It’s true that the one thing constant in life is change, but which one has affected you the most? Whether it’s a move to a new city or a divorce or a career switch, Real Simple magazine is looking for stories about dramatic change for its ninth “Life Lessons” essay contest. Deadline for submission is Sept. 9, 2016.

Life Lessons

Submit an original, unpublished essay of no more than 1,500 words. It must be written in English. The first-prize winner will be awarded $3,000 and the essay published in Real Simple. Second-prize and third-prize winners will be given $750 and $300 respectively.

The writing contest is open to U.S. residents, 19 years or older. There is no fee to enter the writing competition.  Real Simple editors will judge the essays.

Winners will be notified in January 2017 and their names will be published in the magazine’s April 2017 issue.
