Cindy Fazzi’s historical novel, My MacArthur, was chosen as a quarterfinalist in ScreenCraft’s 2018 Cinematic Book Competition. “Our jury is looking for books that would be great for film and/or television,” according to the organization.

ScreenCraft made the announcement on Jan. 16, 2019. The quarterfinalists were chosen out of 1,200 books submitted. The winner will be awarded $1,000 and introductions to Hollywood agents and producers. Final announcement will be made in March 2019.

My MacArthur is the first book to focus on Gen. Douglas MacArthur’s romantic obsession with a young Filipino actress named Isabel Rosario Cooper in the 1930s. At that time, MacArthur was 50 years old, divorced, and the most powerful man in the Philippines, then a United States colony. With hubris, he takes Isabel to Washington, D.C., as his mistress when he became the Army Chief of Staff.

My MacArthur is the third novel written by Fazzi, a Filipino-American author and former Associated Press reporter. She has written two traditionally published romance books under the pen name Vina Arno. My MacArthur was published on Nov. 1, 2018, by Sand Hill Review Press, a small award-winning publisher based in the San Francisco bay area.
