Forest Avenue Press will accept unagented, unsolicited submissions from Feb. 14 to March 14, 2018.  The Portland, Oregon-based publisher is seeking literary fiction. “Our titles are infused with a fresh, complex, sometimes nutty, and often wondrous approach to storytelling,” the publisher said on its website. It’s the home of the Main Street Writers Movement, which “encourages writers to build genuine community on the local level.”

Forest Avenue Press’s committee of women readers is seeking one or two literary novels to publish in 2020. Take note of the following key requirements:

  • To submit, you must currently reside in the United States.
  • Adult literary fiction only, preferably in the 50,000 to 80,000 word range.
  • No short story collections, novellas, poetry, or nonfiction.

“We feel it’s essential to continue adding more authors of color to our catalog. We’d also love to see more submissions from authors with disabilities, LGBTQ authors, neuroatypical authors, and others who have stories to tell that will—in their own creative and effective ways—subvert the dominant paradigm,” said the publisher.
