Do you have an unpublished manuscript? Join the Twitter party known as #PitMad to pitch your work to literary agents and publishers. On Dec. 7, from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. EST, you may tweet a maximum of three different pitches for every manuscript.

“Everyone is welcome to pitch. All genres/categories are welcome,” according to Pitch Wars, the event organizer.

Participating literary agents and editors will tweet their preferred genres using #PitMad. If they want to see your manuscript, they will give your tweet a “favorite.” If they don’t tell you how to submit to them, check out the agent’s or publisher’s submission guidelines before you query or submit your work.

To join the pitch party, follow these rules:

  • Your manuscript must be complete, polished, and unpublished.
  • You can pitch more than one manuscript. Tweet three different pitches for each project. The organizers recommend tweeting one pitch every four hours. Lucky for you, Twitter has increased the characters allowed from 140 to 280!
  • Be sure to include #PitMad and the category or genre (for example, #HF for historical fiction) of your work. The website has a list of all genres and corresponding hashtags.
  • Don’t send tweets to agents and editors or publishers directly unless they send you a tweet first.

Read the complete guidelines before Dec. 7. Happy pitching!
